A 15-year-old boy with Down syndrome received the school’s Kindness Award.
Christopher Yancy received the school’s Kindness Award at Mill Creek Middle School in Georgia during a graduation ceremony for their eighth-graders.
Christopher couldn’t contain his excitement after receiving the award and his reaction is winning the Internet.
Christopher gave his fellow students and his school’s faculty high fives before jumping and dancing on the stage.
Christopher’s mother, Brenda Page, shared the heartwarming video on Facebook which instantly went viral.
His reaction made people fall in love with him. One person commented on the video: ‘Tears and Goosebumps all over’ while another wrote: ‘I absolutely love this!!’
His mother told WSB-TV: “It touches my heart that he got it for kindness. It means more to me than straight A’s or perfect attendance.”
“The boy wakes up with a smile on his face every single day. How many people can say their teenager is always happy?”
“He was so excited. He kept saying, ‘Mommy, I’m graduated!’”
“He loves people, and I just think that’s wonderful. I’m so blessed to have so many students embrace him and love him back. Not just the students, but the parents.”
After his graduation, Christopher – who was enrolled in special-needs classes at Mill Creek Middle School – will be going to high school.
