The former Vice President said in a campaign rally in Iowa that he will cure cancer if he is elected president in 2020.
Joe Biden, whose son passed away from cancer in 2015, was speaking at an event in Iowa on the same day President Trump flew into the state.
He said finding a cure for the disease is the “single most important thing that changes America.”
“A lot of you understand what loss is,” he said. “When loss occurs a lot of people come up to you and say ‘I know how you feel.’ But you feel like saying ‘You have no idea how I feel.’”
Biden added: “I promise you if I’m elected president, you’re going to see the single most important thing that changes America, we’re gonna cure cancer.”
He has been responsible for numerous cancer initiatives before. During his time in office, he led the ‘Cancer Moonshot program.’ He also launched the Biden Cancer Initiative after leaving the office.
Biden also called President Trump an ‘existential threat’ to the country during his speech. “I hope his presence here will be a clarifying event because Iowa farmers have been crushed by his tariffs toward China,” he added. “It’s really easy to be tough when someone else absorbs the pain, farmers and manufacturers.”
Trump has called the Democratic frontrunner ‘low IQ’ while Biden has called the president a ‘threat.’
“He was someplace in Iowa today, and he said my name so many times that people couldn’t stand it anymore,” Trump said.
One internet user said: “I hope he does! Maybe he should focus on that…The Presidency would be too distracting…Go Joe Go!”
Another wrote: “How about curing a b o r t i o n, Joe, which kills far more kids each year than cancer.”
A third said: “Awesome, he knows ho to cure cancer but hasn’t because we haven’t made him president, therefore we’re not worthy of having the cure.”
