According to the rules of a maternity hospital, partners are not allowed to stay over for the night in the ward because they can probably disturb the baby or other patients.
But then how will the father’s get time for bonding with their wife who has just become a mother and their child.
In the hustle of the day, no one gets enough chance with people constantly coming in and out to see the new mother and baby, leaving night as the only time for the same.
Annie Ridout is an author based in London and she states that the rule is outrageous. Annie came to Twitter to share her views when her husband was asked to leave from the ward when she had just delivered her child.
She wrote “This rule is outrageous that does not allow the father to stick by. This is so unfair for the father and for the mother as well.
They ask the newly become mother to stay alone and make the father feel less or probably not important at all. Is the same rule there in other hospitals as well in the UK?”
Supporting her, many mothers spoke up saying that the rule is annoying and should be taken down because the woman who has just delivered her child needs support and the best person to give it is the partner.
A woman commented “This is absurd; I live in Leicester and delivered my baby here. I needed support and my partner was there with me all the time.”
Another woman added “This rule is pathetic. The hospital should understand that a woman is vulnerable both physically and mentally at such a time and she needs her partner.
Besides, the new families need their time to bond up and there could be no best time as just the days after birth.
