Pets, like people, have their own personalities and attitudes. This includes likes and dislikes, just as the following clip clearly demonstrates.
Nothing beats a warm summer day like a relaxing dip or swim. Whether it be in a swimming pool, beach, or lake, just taking a dive into that cool water is just absolute bliss. And swimming is all the more fun if you have a friend or relative to share the experience with.
For two dogs named Belle and Moe, it was just another day at the beach in Galway, Ireland. Belle was all raring to go for a swim but her buddy Moe would rather stay safely by the side of their owner, on dry land.
However, swimming alone isn’t all that fun which is why Belle decides to drag Moe along with her. The clip starts with Belle grabbing Moe by the leash (smart girl!) and pulling him into the water. But it’s obvious that Moe is having none of it and digs his heels at the moment they step in the water.
The owner can’t help but laugh at Moe’s whining and Belle’s insistent tugging, as if telling her friend, “Hey, it’s all right!”
Finally, the one taking the video calls them both. Moe is only too happy to comply and Belle finally relents from the pressure (although she never lets go of Moe’s leash) and both of them walk back towards dry land.
The two contrasting reactions are not really surprising because there really are some cats and dogs who seem to have an instinctive fear of water.
While some may shirk the experience because of their unique shape and size, some just have a psychological aversion to even something as simple as a bath.
And on the other end of the spectrum, there are some dogs who just can’t wait to jump in and it’s the owners who have to hold their pooches back from jumping into any body of water (such as dirty ponds!).On the one hand, it’s entirely possible that dogs who express an initial fear of water may grow to love it as long as the proper encouragement is given. This includes such things as dog life vests and the continued presence of the owner whenever they go for dips. It’s still no guarantee, though, so owners should always be aware of what their pet likes and dislikes.
In the case of the aforementioned video clip, Belle was obviously relaxed and even looking forward to taking a dip. As for Moe, at least we know who among them likely plays hide and seek before bath time!
