President Donald Trump supported Tucker Carlson after the Fox News host attacked Somali-American Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
Carlson said the congresswoman is ‘proof’ the immigration system is dangerous. He used a segment of the show and claimed that the Democrat ‘hates this country,’ which triggered Omar to call him a ‘racist fool.’
36-year-old Omar was born in Somalia and came to the United States as a refugee aged 10.
The primetime host charged on Tuesday night: “Ilhan Omar is living proof that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to this country. She has undisguised contempt for the United States and for its people.”
He added: “She’s a living fire alarm, a warning to the rest of us that we better change our immigration system immediately, or else.”
Trump then showed his support for Carlson on Twitter. He retweeted radio host Mark Levin who shared a link to a Mediate piece which described how ‘New Day’ host John Berman called Carlson’s words a ‘flat-out racist comment.’
Carlson added: “Ilhan Omar has an awful lot to be grateful for, but she isn’t grateful, not at all. After everything America has done for Omar and for her family, she hates this country more than ever.
“Virtually every public statement she makes accuses Americans of bigotry and racism. This is an immoral country, she says. She has undisguised contempt for the United States and for its people. That should worry you, and not just because Omar is now a sitting member of Congress.”
Omar brushed off Carlson’s criticism. She wrote on Twitter: “Not gonna lie, it’s kinda fun watching a racist fool like this weeping about my presence in Congress.
“No lies will stamp out my love for this country or my resolve to make our union more perfect. They will just have to get used to calling me Congresswoman!”
