A shopper named Madison Obrien from Kennesaw, Georgia encountered a weary mother at a local Kroger.
As the mother tried to calm down a crying infant and a young boy, a police officer offered to help her get them all safely into the store.
Obrien then watched the mother sadly tell her toddler that she couldn’t buy the toy he wanted.
“My heart broke in a million pieces for this sweet boy,” she expressed after he burst into tears. It turned out that the police officer also felt the same and bought the boy his toy.
Aside from that, he also paid for the mother’s entire cart of groceries! That is far from another incident that happened earlier.
WREG’s Stephanie Scurlock posted on Facebook about how a police officer from Memphis made a huge impact on one woman’s life.
A mentally-ill woman called the Memphis Police Department. She was crying and her problem didn’t have anything to do with a crime. She was hungry.
They could simply hang up on her but Officer Sandlin knew he had to do something about it. He had decided to go to a grocery store, bought some goods for the woman, and went to her house to put the items away for her.
Scurlock wrote in the photo caption: “Let’s celebrate him and all the other officers who #protectandserve.”
It is amazing that many police officers make time to listen and understand the needs of people around them.
But of course, you do not need to wear a cape or a police uniform to extend a helping hand. Sometimes, you just need to open your ears and listen.
