The gunman who killed three people including a 6-year-old boy at a garlic festival in California has been identified as Santino William Legan, 19.
The culprit was named as police in Gilroy continued to search for his accomplice.
A social media account registered under his name has been deleted after he was identified on Monday. Officers were searching a house in Gilroy but haven’t confirmed if it is his home.
The teen was shot dead by an officer while he was shooting people at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.
President Donald Trump called Legan a ‘wicked murderer’ during a bill signing ceremony at the White House.
Among the victims was 6-year-old Stephen Romero.
According to survivors, Legan said that he was ‘really angry’ when they asked why he wanted to shoot. Authorities believe he managed to enter by using bolt cutters to get through a fence as the area was protected with metal detectors.
Cheryl Low, who was working at the festival, said to ABC: “He didn’t say anything, nothing. He did not even look from side to side. He just kept looking forward.”
15 people, including a 12-year-old girl, were injured. Legan didn’t flinch as the bullets hit children. Some people said he moved ‘like a police officer’ as he was so quick.
“He shot one child and then he put the clip in and he just started moving back and forth walking toward the tents because that’s where most of the people were in that area and he started shooting,” Cheryl added.
51-year-old Candice Marquez, a vendor, said she was only 10 feet away from the gunman when he started shooting. She said the man’s actions were ‘very deliberate.’ Two of her coworkers were shot in the incident.
