A pregnant basketball coach has gone viral after scoring several successive three-pointers in a row just hours before giving birth.
When Melanie Thornbury was 39 weeks pregnant, she didn’t let her state slow her down at all. And so, the basketball coach who works at a Georgia high school decided to perform the pregame routine of Golden State Warriors’ champion Stephen Curry by scoring several successive three-pointers while showing off her dribbling tricks.
In the video shared online, the coach is seen scoring one three-pointer after another with ease.
Following the display of her skills, Melanie went into labor and gave birth to a healthy boy named Cooper the next day.
“Shooting baskets is an everyday routine for me so doing what I did at 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant felt right – but I surprised myself by how well I was shooting,” the basketball coach admitted.
“I had a feeling I was going to have the baby soon because I had been experiencing contractions since early that morning. Afterwards, my contractions continued and I went to the hospital that very night and had our son the following morning.”
According to the reports, the Unity Christian School basketball coach told her students she had been wanting to give a try to the all-star’s routine ever since she first saw it.
“I don’t really know why I wanted to film the video except that I knew that I could make those shots and it made me feel good,” Thornbury added.
As the coach added, she still makes sure to play basketball every day despite being busy with her work and family.
