He spoke about the modern trend which Hollywood stars have adopted where they talk about their transgender children.
According to him, children at that young age do not have the correct mind set to decide on their sexuality, let alone knowing anything about sexuality in the first place.
Lopez did not want to tread over the way people raise their children, saying that parents only do what they do for the best of their children.
But he says it is mighty dangerous for a parent to decide on their children’s gender, placing them as a boy or a girl from a young age and might have severe consequences later in life.
Hearing about his comments, several people to this issue to social media, with most of the angry reactions being about how Mario Lopez’s show should be cancelled.
Mario Lopez trended for several hours with social media users pouring in their opinions about his comments.
Many of them were disappointed with Lopez, who is an active supporter of GLAAD, Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, which stands with people who are bullied on social media for their sexuality.
Users told Lopez that he has no right to talk about other people’s parenting skills and doing so crossed a serious line.
Lopez’s behaviour was also compared to the dumb and stupid character, A. C. Slater, which he played on Saved by the Bell, saying his comments prove how idiotic he is in real life as well.
With hate comments being written by the minute, it does not seem Lopez’s life will return to normal anytime soon.
