Julie Carrow from Minnesota saw a deer covered in large tumors as she took photos of nature.

She said that it is one of the worst cases she had seen in 15 years.

The photographer took photos of the poor animal that was covered in tumors caused by papillomavirus, also known as HPV in humans.

Photos of the deer looking at the camera sparked a huge reaction online that locals managed to catch up with it right away.

Carrow’s photos show the growths on the deer’s legs, rear, chest, belly, face, and neck.

The photographer, who is also a nurse, said to CityPages: “This deer casually wandered past us. He did not appear in any distress or malnourished, though I couldn’t see his eyes.”

She wrote on Facebook: “1) has anyone see this little guy around town and 2) can anything be done to help him. This to me is just heartbreaking.”

The post was shared by the Big Bone Outdoors Facebook group and it was then shared by over 7,000 people.

Internet users were worried the creature could be carrying an infectious illness while others the deer was living a difficult life.

“He has to be miserable. Id contact the DNR and have it put down,” one person commented.

“I saw him or her this spring. It crossed Hiawatha when I was going south from Good Sam. DNR should catch it and find out what it has so it doesn’t spread to other deer, and treat it,” another wrote.

Carrow was contacted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Refuge personnel. The deer had a severe case of Fibromatosis which is not fatal for the animal and not contagious for humans.

But the Quality Deer Management Association said the condition can affect its breathing, sight, feeding, and mobility.

No actions will be taken.
