As the expenses of living getting higher, people think about cheap alternatives to not affect the quality of living.
A single father from Brighton, UK named Adam Collier decided to turn an old bus into the perfect living space for him and his teenage daughter.
The 42-year-old carpenter started the whole renovation process to keep a certain budget on his mind. He didn’t want to spend more than £10,000 ($12,000) for the whole project but few extra expenses arise as the process started.
He knew that it would not be easy to create the mobile living space of his dreams, but he tried his best and succeeded. First, he purchased the double-decker and getting rid of the seats. He didn’t discard all the seats as he kept some and used them later during the process.
Adam didn’t take the help of anyone as he wanted to finish his home all by himself. He told Amazing Space, “I’m a tradesman as well, so I knew how to do everything, and there was no point in asking anyone else to help. Also, it was my project. I couldn’t expect others to share my level of enthusiasm.”
There were many challenges as it was not so easy to turn a bus into the house. He chose affordable, yet fancy materials. The benches he used in his new house is actually from the bus, he just used sponge foam and added some cushions.
Do you know what is the best thing about the dining area? It is that the fancy way it looks and the table could be folded when not in use.
The most expensive part of the kitchen was the wooden worktop. It took Adam to 6 months to finish the project and the final result is beyond amazing.
He said: “The most expensive part of it [kitchen] was the worktop. The whole kitchen cost peanuts, really.”
He used tongue-and-groove panels for the floors and the walls. The new home is spacious and there is plenty of room for every visitor who wants to enjoy the stay in the double-decker. Adam and his daughter Devon are sea lovers and love surfing so it is easy for father and daughter to drive themselves to the beach whenever they want.
