We all know that even the smallest kind gesture goes a long way, but have you experienced one while going through some tough times?
Dan and Maxi Cortez were celebrating Father’s Day with their twin baby daughters, Harper and Harlow, at Red Lobster. As they were finishing their meal and getting ready to pay the bill, the waitress handed them the bill, which turned out to have already been paid.

There was a note on the back of the bill, which said:
Happy Father’s Day! Enjoy your babies, they don’t stay little long. From the family across from you, God bless you.
The parents were so touched, Maxi shared the good news on her Facebook:
“To the family in Red Lobster who sat across from us today.
You never ask a question we never spoke a word. Yet you did something for us that we will never forget. When the waitress handed us your note the tears began to fall. To you we looked like just a family of 4 celebrating the most important man in our lives.ADVERTISEMENT Little did you know last year we celebrated as a family of 5.
You see this past year we lost one of our triplets! The holidays are always the hardest. Without knowing any of this you paid for our meal. You might never know our story or the impact of something so little could effect our lives.ADVERTISEMENT I’m writing you to thank you from the bottom of our hearts! I hope this post reaches you, so one day you might know that what might seemed like a small gesture of kindness to you, made celebrating my wonderful husband just a little bit easier this year!”

In 2014, after struggling with infertility as a young couple, Dan and Maxi decided to opt for IVF. In a wonderful turn of events, the couple was blessed with triplets.

Landon, Harper and Harlow were delivered on May 27, 2015, via C-section. All three babies seemed quite healthy, and they went home with their proud parents. However, baby Landon started acting strangely, so their father rushed him to the hospital. They were devastated to discover that Landon was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
The family said their final goodbyes to Landon, who was just seven weeks old.
Maxi said about her son:
“From the time he was born he never closed his eyes. He just wanted to be awake all the time. It’s like he knew that he only had a short time.”
This was the family’s first Father’s Day without Landon, so it was a tough time for the Cortez’s. So they were extremely grateful for the unknown family’s incredible gesture of kindness — especially when they needed it most.
