There are many tribes living in the forest of Amazon that treats the forest as their home and has marked it their prime duty to protect the forest.
Although these tribes are always at a war with each other, this time they have come together to fight against their common enemy.
The tribes state that the government has a part to play in deforestation of the Amazon. As per the claims made by the tribes and their leaders, the Brazilian government on purpose set the forest on fire to clear land for ill practices of mining.
They raised concerns about poising of the river that is the main source of water in the indigenous land as loggers and prospectors invade the indigenous land.
The meeting of 14 leaders from different tribes of the Xingu basin took place in the Kubenkokre village.
The Xingu basin region makes up a very huge part of the Amazon rainforest and since the January to June, the region has lost 69,000 hectares which are dangerously concerning.
Mudjire Kayapó is the leader of one of the indigenous tribe of the region. He said “we Amazonians only have one common enemy today and that is the government of Brazil.
We have multiple fights going on among us but on this, we Amazonians stand together. The invading of non-indigenous people and the president of Brazil are the ones we need to fight with.”
The group released a manifesto saying that they Amazonians have not decided to live like common Brazilians but that is what the Brazil government has been saying.
They do not wish to leave their land. They only take Amazon as their home and understand that it is their prime duty to save the forest. They know that the loss of forest will come out as a major climate change that the Earth will not be able to cope up with.
