There is a long debate on whether rescue animals are safe for families and children.
Some say that rescue dogs are potentially more dangerous due to past emotional abuse.
But most rescue dogs can still become loving and loyal members of their family. Provided they feel safe and happy in their home, they will be protective of their family.
Elizabeth Spence and her husband prove that rescue dogs can work with families. They have 3 kids including an infant along with 6 rescue animals!
One of their adopted animals is Nora. Nora, an 8-year-old English pointer, was scared of everyone due to past abuse.

Then Nora met Archie, the family’s 11-month-old son. The two fell in love at first sight.
The two are now inseparable. Nora is always at Archie’s side whether it is during play time or napping. Spence loves to take pictures of the two and post them to her Instagram.
Nora’s age and history has not stopped her from being a loving, kind, and sweet dog for the Spencer family. At first she needed extra time and attention to become comfortable, but she is now as part of the family like any dog.
Luckily for Nora she is blessed to be living in a dog wonderland. She plays with her furry friends, gets her picture taken and be with her favorite baby Archie.
Nora is always by Archie’s side. “If Archie is having a bath, Nora is lying on the bath mat waiting for him to get out,” Spence said.
“If I’m nursing him, she wants up on my lap, too. If he’s going through my cupboards throwing all the dishes on the floor, she’ll be there cheering him on.”

It isn’t only Archie who loves to play with the animals. Wellington and Loretta, Elizabeth’s other two kids, also love to play with the animals all the time.
Rescue animals may not be for everyone, but the Spencer family are proof they can work.
Archie and Nora prove that the perfect friend can change lives.
