A woman has adopted a dog from a shelter only to discover that it was the same dog that she loved with her entire heart when she was a child.
Nicole Grimes from Pennsylvania was 10 years old when her grandmother gifted her a Pomeranian-poodle crossbreed that she’d always wanted.
While she thought her love for the dog would be enough for the two to stay together forever, things took a drastic turn four years later after her father accepted a new job and told Nicole that Chloe the Dog would have to go.
“My dad got a job where we couldn’t have a dog so I had to give her up. It was so hard,” Nicole recalled in her post.
Eventually, Nicole moved on with her life and started her own family after she became of age. That’s when she came across a post that an elderly dog named Chloe desperately needed a home.
The posting instantly picked Nicole’s interest and she adopted the dog. It wasn’t until connecting some dots, however, that the 21-year-old became certain that Chloe was the dog from her childhood.
“When we got her, right away she just fit right in. There was just something about her!! As the day went on, different things she did/how she acted was EXACTLY what my old Chloe did,” Nicole wrote in her post.
“Last night I was holding her and just cried because that dog was hugging me back and I just held her close to my heart. I just knew in my heart this was my Chloe.”
After checking out the chip number of Chloe and comparing it to the number Chloe’s old records had, Nicole was thrilled to learn that she was right about her dog all along.
“I am so happy, excited, blessed to have this beloved dog back and to get to love her for the remainder of her life,” she added.
