Remember how you used to run to McDonald’s to have a Happy Meal not just because you loved the food, of the burgers and the fries were definitely great but there was more to the meal box.
We still love the food too much but because you loved the surprise too.
Yes, those soft toys and cars and whatnot, I have like a ton of them still preserved somewhere in the back of my cupboard.
Well, McDonald’s has changed their surprise a little now because instead of toys, they are giving away children books to the customers.
This step was taken as an initiative that started back in 2013 of a literacy program.
The program aimed to make the kids and parents sit together to read which inculcates the habit of reading in kids and brings families together.
Now, the company has decided to give away David William’s best selling children books with Happy Meals. David started writing books for children in 2008.
David wrote a series of books called The World’s Worst Children and the stories being offered are from the same series. There are 6 stories in total to be offered and you can get any one of them with the box of your surprise.
Starting from 2013, the company has given out 70 million books till now and they say they are not willing to stop.
Ann-Janine Murtagh, HarperCollins Children’s Books’ Executive Publisher said “We at Harper Collins made a commitment of reaching to as many people as possible to develop literacy and this brings us immense joy.
We are reaching too many new readers every day with David’s stories that are written to bring the family close together.
Our initiative is working and this is the way we are going to travel in now. We are happy to welcome so many new readers.
