A grandmother has won $150 million Powerball jackpot.
The woman from Ipswich, Queensland, said she’d been putting off checking her ticket because she thought someone else would claim the third $50 million share.
But when she heard that the ticket had been bought at a newsXpress newsagent in Brassal, she decided to check if she’d won.
The retiree said she would share the prize with her siblings, kids, and grandchildren, making them all instant millionaires.
‘I’ve always dreamed if one day I won Powerball, I’d buy myself a Mustang! So I’ll be doing that!’ she added. ‘And I will be buying myself a beautiful new home as well.’
The woman said she was so shocked when she came to know that she was the third winner and she checked the ticket ‘about a million times’.
‘I was shaking. I was completely overwhelmed and still am!’
The woman, who requested to remain anonymous, also revealed she regularly participated in the competition but never thought she’d win.
‘I always buy a ticket into the big jackpot draws but just like everyone else, you never actually think it’s going to be you.’
The Ipswich woman was one of three lucky people to claim the record-breaking prize, including a father from Sydney and a man from Brisbane.
The Sydney dad said he woke up with the life-changing news.
He said he was shocked to know the fact he’d woken up a multi-millionaire.
‘I am speechless. How would anyone feel? I don’t even think this is real at the moment.
‘My god. I just told my wife. She was getting the kids ready for school and she does not believe me. I only bought my ticket last minute when I was at work yesterday because everyone else was buying them.
‘I think I might have to take the day off work to calm down and think about how I will use this prize. There’s no way I’d be able to concentrate.’
The Brisbane man said he didn’t sleep after finding out he had won one-third of the jackpot.
When asked how he planned to enjoy his incredible $50 million prizes, the man’s emotion came out.
‘Well I’d love to build a house,’ he said. ‘I’d love to take some time off work to spend some quality time with my family and do some traveling.
‘The rest, I’m going to have to wait and see.
‘I need to let the news sink in.’
