Takiyah Middleton added Hello Kitty decals, pink interior decorations, eight speakers, seven TVs, and a full LED light setup to her plain white Ford Mustang and transformed it into a Hello Kitty Mustang.
The mother says she did it, almost all by herself, for her two daughters.
The mother-of-two told Barcroft TV: “I wanted to pull up at my daughters’ school and be like super mum, the cool mum so that’s what made me start building the car.”
This is the first car she has ever customized all by herself and never took anyone’s help because she wanted it to be something that she created.
She says her Hello Kitty Mustang, which she bought on Craigslist for $8,000, is very popular in the city of Nashville and whenever she goes out in her car, people take pictures and even request her to let them sit in her car.
“Everybody loves the car. This car changes people’s lives and puts smiles on people’s faces”, she added.
Takiyah is the founder of the ‘Rychus Rydz’ car club. The club works on cars and feeds the homeless as well.
Talking about her Hello Kitty Mustang, she said: “Growing up, my mum always decorated her car with cherries and things of that sort. So I wanted to decorate mine and I didn’t want to use Barbie so I thought of Hello Kitty.”
“I decided to go with Hello Kitty because I really thought a little character was cute. She speaks from the heart. She doesn’t have a mouth. And a lot of people don’t really know that. The original Hello Kitty is red, black, and white. I wanted to go with pink so it could be a more girly colour.”
After purchasing the plain white Ford Mustang on Craigslist for $8,000, she has spent around $30,000 to transform it into a Hello Kitty Mustang.
She says she loves people’s reactions when they see her car and feels it was all worth it.
Takiyah is planning to add Lamborghini-style doors and 30-inch rims to her Mustang. She says she has turned down so many offers of selling the car because she would never sell the car for less than $30,000.
Currently, she is using the car to compete in car shows, in music videos, and for kids’ birthday parties.
