Jennifer Aniston has spoken out and revealed that the original Friends cast is “working on something” just weeks after she wrecked Instagram as she created an account on the social media platform.
During The Ellen DeGeneres Show, 50-year-old Aniston teased fans of Friends, an all-time favorite comedy series, by saying that the cast of six is “working on something.”
However, Jen quickly reminded us not to keep our hopes up by claiming that whatever they’re working on won’t be a reboot of the series.
“Listen, we would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying really, we’re working on something,” Aniston said.
After responding with a firm ‘No’ when asked if they were working on a Friends reboot, Jen was met with a loud sigh from the audience.
As Ellen kept on digging in an attempt to find out more, she asked Jen if they were working on a movie to which the 50-year-old responded by saying: “A huge, huge, huge, movie. No, we don’t know. I don’t want to lead people on.”
Previously confirming that there was no chance of a Friends reboot is also Marta Kauffman, the series’ co-creator, who said that “the heart of the show would be gone” if they were to pursue this option.
“There are several reasons [why Friends reunion isn’t an option].
One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. It’s not that time anymore.
All we’d be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone,” Marta said in an interview with Rolling Stone.“Two, I don’t know what good it does us. The show is doing just fine, people love it. [A reboot] could only disappoint. ‘The One Where Everyone’s Disappointed.’”
