A paramedic was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor after stealing a diamond ring from a dead patient before selling it at a pawnshop.
The incident occurred in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where 50-year-old Lisa Darlene Glaze cut an $8,000 ring off a dead person’s finger before selling it for $45.
According to the authorities, the heartless paramedic is now facing up to ten years in jail as she was charged with felony theft due to the value of the stolen ring.
Lisa stole the ring from Gloria Robinson who was reportedly pronounced dead after being rushed to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs.
After her passing, the woman’s husband and sister picked up her personal belongings only to realize that not one but three of her rings were gone.
Suspecting that something was off, the family walked up to Lisa and demanded answers. The paramedic, however, allegedly “did not answer her and walked away.”
During the funeral service, the family received two of Gloria’s rings from the hospital. Nevertheless, there was no sign of the diamond ring which was the most expensive one.
Following the police investigation, the family was informed that the diamond ring was cut off Gloria’s finger by the vile paramedic who sold it at a pawnshop for $45.
After paying a visit to the pawnshop, the police found the ring and sent it back to the grieving family. As for the owner of the store, he confirmed that Lisa sold him the ring and presented her driver’s license in the process.
“CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs places a priority on the safety and well-being of our patients and our healing ministry is committed to their security while in our care,” the hospital where Glaze used to work wrote in a statement after the incident.
“Upon notification by authorities, CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs placed the employee in question on administrative leave without pay pending further investigation. The hospital continues to cooperate with local authorities.”
