Brent’s young children found Poncho and her sister Carmelita at the side of a dirt pathway that leads to the beach near their condo. The family was enjoying a Christmas vacation in sunny Mexico and they had no idea they would end up rescuing a dog.
The family returned to Vancouver with its two new puppies and the border agent also asked them if the trip was intentional for bringing back new puppies.
Brent replied with a definite” no, but it has turned out well”. Poncho’s sister Carmelita has found another home, but Poncho still remains with Brent and his family.
Brent taught Poncho a few simple tricks as the puppy is very smart and learns easily. The dog has learned to roll over with a simple hand signal and a couple of words.
She does the trick without having to tell her, but it appears Brent automatically tells her, “OK Ponch, rollover”. Poncho rolls over effortlessly but the dog is ageing with time and sometimes the tricks become difficult.
Poncho performs a partial roll, jumping back up in the hope of receiving the treat. The smart dog knows that she will get the treat and perform the tricks well to win it.
