A woman, from Southend-on-Sea, revamped her ten-year-old leather sofa for just £10 after it started to crack and peel.
Kate Fort didn’t want to spend money on a new sofa so she decided to revamp her ten-year-old leather sofa with the £10 leather colourant.
The woman shared the before and after pictures of her sofa on the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook group, leaving people stunned.
The woman said: “I’m so impressed.
I didn’t hold out much hope for my beloved leather sofa.
Its high traffic use and my children jumping on it over the last 10 years has taken its toll. My youngest is only two, and we still have the odd creative pen moment. ”“So I’m very reluctant to get a new sofa yet. I decided to try and restore the sofa myself and while it’s not perfect, I’m very happy with the results. It really is a lot better than it was! Just thought I’d share in case anyone else is experiencing their leather sofa peeling, but are not ready to part with it just yet! I’m very happy with my results that cost me only £10.”
Kate used a 125ml bottle of leather colourant in ‘cream’ from The Leather Clinic that cost her just £9.95. She applied the colour on the sofa using a damp sponge after watching a YouTube tutorial.
She used a small nail file to make sure the surface was smooth.
Though it is a temporary solution to save thousands of pounds for now, she still feels that she did the right thing as her daughter is still too young and she keeps drawing or painting on the sofa.
Facebook users praised the smart woman after she shared the before and after pictures online.
One user said: ‘OMG.I’m so glad I came across this.
My sofa is the same. It’s only on the arms, it’s just peeling off all the time. Will definitely try this stuff’ while another wrote: ‘Wow. . that’s amazing, wish I’d known about this before ..
