This world is turning its faces each and every day and no matter how much we value human life and protest about valuing animal life as well, we are never going to save their life as we are trying to save our own.
For years and years, scientists and biologists have been trying to make hybrids to give birth to a few new species and for a few other purposes as well. For the first time, a team of scientists has been able to successfully make a hybrid between monkey and pig.
The aim of the hybrid is that the developers wish to cultivate human organs inside the body of these animals they are creating so that human organ transplants can become easier.
Scientists say that this research that needs 4,000 embryos for giving birth to piglets, aims for the cultivation of human organs inside the body of animals for the purpose of transplant in human bodies whenever needed.
The doctors were able to get 10 piglets with the help of their research. Out of 10, 2 died in the early stage and a few days later the rest of the 8 piglets died too. After this, the researchers realized that the problem is not with chimeras but with the IVF procedure.
Despite the research is going well, there are several scientific community members who are not in favor of this research to be carried forward as it is not ethically right.
Douglas Munoz who is a neuroscientist at Queen’s University says that the research ethically scares him. He says “with this research, we are going to start something that we do not know how to stop and we are not prepared for it.
The idea of it is scaring me and it is ethically incorrect with all the possibilities of it going terribly wrong.”
