A volcanic island erupted recently in New Zealand, which is assumed to have killed a total of 14 people.
While the death of 6 people has been confirmed, 8 people are still missing.
According to the police, the sixth person who was being treated in the hospital died due to their injuries on Tuesday. The disaster, which hit the White Island on Monday at 2:11 p.m. has taken the lives of five people.
Scott Morrison, Australian Prime Minister, has said that up to 3 people who have died are Australians, while one of the 14 is Malaysian.
However, none of the victims have been identified except one person who is named as Hayden Marshall Inman, a New Zealand tour guide.
It is also reported that thirty people are being treated in the hospital, with some suffering from 90% burns.
Three people have been treated as well as released. According to the chief medic of New Zealand, Pete Watson, not all out of the wounded will survive.
A safety and health investigation has been launched by the police as well. In total forty-seven tourists were present on the island when the volcano erupted.
Out of them, there were 24 Australians, five New Zealanders, nine Americans, four Germans, two Chinese, two Britons, and one Malaysian.
A pair of British women are confirmed to be in the hospital, amongst the wounded, while a newly married American couple Lauren and Matthew Urey, are also amongst the injured.
One of the injured was Jake Milbank, who was working on Monday as a tour guide and celebrated his birthday has almost 80% burns on his body.
