Parents were left devastated after their baby passed away only seconds after birth.
Baby Valentino was born at the Sanatorio Pronto clinic in the Gualguaychu City in Argentina. Sadly, the healthy baby fell headfirst into the floor before doctors could catch him.
According to reports, his mother had been told to push so the baby could come out. But before the doctors could grab the baby, he fell into the floor and passed away.
29-year-old Claudio Mondragon, who saw wife 26-year-old Stefenia gave birth, said to local paper El Dia: “My wife was in labour and was just about to have the baby and they asked her to push and she pushed so he would come out.
“He came out really fast and no-one grabbed him and he fell to the floor. The midwife didn’t have time to catch him and the obstetrician didn’t react.
“The only thing they did was lift him up from the floor and put him in an incubator and take him to another hospital.”
An investigation will determine whether anyone should face criminal charges and whether the baby’s death was due to medical negligence.
Baby Valentino was buried in a cemetery in Urdinarrain. A preliminary autopsy concluded that he passed away from a head injury due to the fall.
A relative shared a photo of a black ribbon with Valentino’s name next to a white balloon.
Marina replied to messages of condolence and said: “Thank you all, I can’t understand what happened.”
Claudio’s friend wrote on Facebook: “Stay strong Claudio and Stefania. I hope those responsible are brought to account for what happened.”
