A grandma posted an advertisement offering herself as a Christmas guest as she had no one to celebrate the holiday with.
When Carson Carlock saw the heartbreaking ad while browsing through advertisements on Craiglist, he knew he had to do something for the pensioner.
“Anybody need a grandma for Christmas?” the post read. “I can cook, and I can cook dinner. I’ll even bring food and gifts for the kids!”
The post added: “I HAVE NOBODY AND IT REALLY HURTS. Let me be a part of your family.”
Carson related to the grandmother’s plea as his mother, who passed away last year, spent her last Christmas alone as she was too ill to travel and be with her family. He would like to honor his mother’s memory by helping the pensioner.
“I go through the free part of Craigslist pretty often just looking for stuff because sometimes people give away stuff for free,” he expressed.
“I saw that post, and I was like, ‘You know that’s really sad.’
“She would want me to be the kind of person to do this for other people.”
Unfortunately, many people sent cruel messages to the elderly woman, leading to her deleting her ad.
“A lot of people started sending her hateful messages,” Carson said. “I understand that everybody can be wary about it, because there’s a lot of bad things happening in the world right now. I don’t want anyone else to feel that way.”
Carson then created a new ad asking the ‘grandma needing a family’ to contact him, and his post quickly went viral.
The grandma, known as Grandma Carrie, contacted him and he said that she would have a merry Christmas.
“Carrie is the most loving and sweet person, I wish I could share with you more about her but she has asked to keep it private,” Carson wrote on Facebook.
“She is so wonderful and I will be seeing her Christmas Day. Thank you guys so much for your support and love. Merry Christmas guys!”
