A 28-year-old mother was called ‘fat ugly mess’ by a man who pushed her in front of her disabled daughter in McDonald’s.
Luke Jones and Ryan Gould, who are in an ‘on-off relationship’, mocked the mother and attacked her in front of her 10-year-old disabled daughter in McDonald’s in Manchester.
The couple met the mother first on Manchester’s Market Street and blocked the mother’s path who was accompanied by her friend and her two children.
After the couple overheard the mother’s phone conversation that people were looking at her, Jones told the mum: “No one’s looking at you, you fat ugly mess. Calm down and shut your mouth.”
The trio indulged into a heated argument and then left after a few minutes.
They met again at McDonald’s in St Ann’s Square the same day where the couple told the mother to make her daughter ‘be quiet’.
They also took a selfie with the mother in the background and when she confronted them, Jones pushed the mother in front of her daughter who is blind and uses a wheelchair.
The couple also threw some drinks on the mother and her daughter and Gould ‘used unlawful violence’ against the mother.
An onlooker called the police and the men were arrested.
Judge Timothy Smith sentenced Jones to a 12-month community order, including 270 hours of unpaid work, 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and a Thinking Skills programme.
Judge Timothy Smith criticized Jones and said that it was very cruel and insulting.
He said: “It was behaviour that was quite frankly intolerable on your part. It was cruel, and it was insulting.”
Jones was also sentenced for possession of a knife while Ryan Gould will be sentenced in January.
