A generous 8-year-old girl’s plea has gone viral after she requested her family and friends to give her pet food that she could donate to an animal shelter rather than gifts for Christmas.
While most kids request new toys or gadgets for Christmas, young Landyn Wadsworth from Pasco, Washington, pleaded with people for nothing but pet food that she could collect and donate to Tri-Cities Animal Shelter.
Fortunately, the young girl’s call for help soon went viral and she was able to raise over 600 pounds of pet food thanks to donations of Good Samaritans.
“Landon’s wish for Christmas was food donations for the shelter and it looks like her wish came true!! We are so grateful for your kindness and I’m sure the dogs and cats are too!!” the charity expressed after receiving Landyn’s donation.
According to the 8-year-old girl’s mother, Alisha Wadsworth, who spoke to KEPR, her daughter has been engaged in raising money for helpless pets for three years in a row.
“This little lady made her Christmas wish come true. She donated over 600lbs of quality food to the animal shelter,” she wrote on Facebook.
“She wanted the animals taken care of and this will definitely help with that. Merry Christmas.”
As the family explained, little Landyn embarked on a mission to help as many shelter animals as she could after paying a visit to a shelter and realizing she couldn’t take them all home.
Now, the hardworking girl is already working on her 2020 campaign which will run for the whole year in order for the girl to raise even more donations than in 2019.
As the shelter in question also revealed, anyone who wishes to help their animals is welcome to make a financial donation as well.
“Our food pantry is now full due to the generosity of kind folks like Landyn. We are now hoping to raise funds to continue to spay and neuter all pets before they leave the shelter,” they shared.
