Did you know that Elephants, the monstrous animals with a trunk larger than your hands, love music? If not, then you will be surprised to know that not only they love it, they feel it too.
These Animals hold the trunks and sway them when they hear the violin playing around them.
It is the story of an Indian Elephant who was rescued and brought to Thailand’s Elephant Nature Park. Faa Mai is the name of this rescued elephant, and she was rescued by her caretaker Lek Chailert, who is also the founder of this national park. The duo shares a very deep and loving relationship since Faa Mai was just a calf.
One day when Lek was clicking a picture of Faa Mai with the visitors, Faa Mai drew Lek’s attention to a more important matter.
Since she was rescued by Lek, Lek has been singing lullabies for the elephant that helps her to sleep at night. Now, the nine-year-old elephant feels a kind of connection with another elephant who was rescued recently, Thong Ae. Faa Mai now thinks that it is her duty to make sure that this baby elephant gets the same love and care that she received as a child.
And that was the reason when Faa Mai started whisking Lek in a certain direction; Lek wasn’t very clear what it was, so she just followed her. After some time, she found herself face to face with the recently rescued baby. Lek did not understand anything, so she looked over to Faa Mai to found her already staring towards her, expectantly.
She knew that look and understood what Faa Mai wanted her to do.
Lek said that Faa Mai loves when she sings lullabies to her, and she wanted to share that same joy with Thong Ae.
These kinds of emotional instincts are very strong in female elephants.
They know how to love and when they do, their love is immense, especially when it comes to baby elephants. When a calf is born in a herd of elephants, they shower it with lots of love and affection.Plus, music has a very powerful effect on elephants, and Faa Mai wanted Thong Ae to experience that.
As soon as Lek started singing Thong Ae started getting comfortable with Faa Mai.
Lek said that Faa Mai loves Thong Ae as her own and she wants to adopt the baby elephant. It was a motherly instinct that urged Faa Mai to make Lek sing the lullaby to Thong Ae so that her baby could sleep peacefully.
Lek said that she is proud of Faa Mai, “she has a heart filled with love and care,” Lek added.
