A man fell off a cliff while trying to take a better picture of himself with the background of a waterfall.
The Daily Mail reported on the accident which happened at Gokak Waterfall in Begum, India.
A 30-year-old man went to visit the Gokak Waterfall with his friends.
He wanted to leave a memorable picture with a better view, and as he kept stepping backwards for a better view he fell off the cliff at a height of 52 meters.
Witnesses at the scene said, “The man on the cliff moved according to the instructions of his friends.” He recalled, “I saw his friends telling him to change poses.”
“The man fell off the cliff while changing his pose,” he added.
Another witness said, “I told him several times that it was dangerous, but he didn’t listen.”
The man’s friend said, “This would have not happened if we didn’t tell him to shoot at a better angle.”
Indian authorities say they have searched but failed to retrieve the man’s body who fell off the cliff.
They also explained that the search will be difficult due to the deep depth of the waters beneath the cliff.
On the other hand, Gokak Falls is notorious as a place of suicide among locals.
According to the Indian media New Indian Express, there have been 19 people who have lost their lives at Gokak Waterfall over the past five years.
