“Stupid Question” is actually listed on Tom’s Diner’s side menu and a number of people have been charged for asking a ‘Stupid Question’.
The general manager of Tom’s Diner Hunter Landry told TODAY Food:
“It’s meant to be playful. It’s good to keep things light in today’s world.”
The nephew of Tom Messina, Landry told that his uncle added the “Stupid Question” on Tom’s Diner’s side menu around 20 years ago.
However, they don’t actually charge them for asking a ‘Stupid Question’.
It is just for fun.
“When we have a good fun table that engages with us or when they ask about the charge, it’s always fun to add it on,” Landry said.
“It’s all about not taking yourself too seriously.
We’re not here for a long time, so let’s enjoy ourselves and try to make the most of this life,” he added.
