People are calling Prince William ‘wonderful’ after he displayed his skills of talking in sign language while honoring a deaf sign-language expert.
During the recent investiture ceremony held at Buckingham Palace, Prince William said ‘congratulations’ using sign language to praise the deaf-winner of MBE medal, Alex Duguid.
Mr. Alex had been interpreting sign language of the deaf audience for TV show Emmerdale and Coronation Street for many years.
Other people who received accolades included Sir Andrew Strauss, who was awarded Knighthood, and rapper MIA, awarded with MBE medal.
Prince’s act of complimenting Mr. Alex was highly appreciated on social media all over the world.
Expressing their views, a Twitter user commented: “Well done, Prince William! Did you all know his Mom Princess Diana learned sign language as patron of the British Deaf Association?”
Another said: “How wonderful of Prince William to take the time to learn sign language. That is how a royal with integrity acts. So incredibly thoughtful.”
Some other netizen wrote: “This made me so emotional. A video of Prince William using sign language, will show this to my niece. I’ll never understand why sign language isn’t mandatory in school. Thank you.”
“Congratulations Alex on your well deserved award. It’s also great to see Prince William trying some sign language,” said another.
William’s late mom, Lady Diana, had also worked for the deaf community in her life.
In fact, she was called ‘inspiration to the Deaf community’ as she remained a patroness of the BDA, British Deaf Association.
The first wife of Prince Charles also learned the gesture language in 1983.
The appreciation William is receiving from people all over the world will help the family in getting temporary relief from Harry and Meghan’s shocking split.
Today was the first morning Prince William showed up after Queen agreed to the couple’s desire of quitting their Royal roles.
