For kids nowadays, the Nerf gun is pretty much a staple of childhood as the water gun was for kids a few decades back.

The fun of shooting a Nerf gun is certainly more tangible compared to imagining a gun battle or spraying water in your opponent’s face. Having a projectile that actually flies towards your target can do that.

The tears and the tantrums after getting a beating, it’s all another day in the life of a child. But now the folks over at Aldi were thinking that it’s not just humans who should be hogging all the fun.

That’s why they came up with a Nerf gun that they cleverly call the Nerf Dog and it allows you to play fetch with your dog and you literally don’t have to get off your chair.

Aside from the Nerf gun, the package comes with three colorful tennis balls. They’re available online but you may need to click away fast if you want to get your hands on one.

Penny pinchers can always throw a ball but why stick with such dated methods when you can just shoot it out of a gun instead?

The toy’s ad description reads: “If the family dog enjoys games of fetch, give them a game that’s really exciting with this brilliant Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Launcher.

“A great interactive toy your dog will adore, simply pull the trigger back and press to blast the ball up to 50 feet in the air. They will love chasing the ball, and your arm won’t get tired from throwing, making it a great addition to your walkies.”

It should be quite obvious but we’re spelling it out anyway: toys such as these always carry the potential to be dangerous so you need to exercise care when using them.

In 2018, a nine-year-old boy from South Wales was hit in the eye by a Nerf gun pellet and resulted in the eye being removed. The eye that was struck by the Nerf projectile was damaged beyond repair and doctors had to remove it to make sure that he didn’t lose his other eye as well.

Another boy, Taylor-Jay Ravicini, was only three when a toy arrow hit him in the eye and caused him to go blind in that eye. Taylor was hospitalized for six weeks following the accident due to complications from infections.

Suddenly, water guns have started looking attractive again.
