A family in Australia knows exactly how much their pet cat loved its cat tree.
But when they noticed that the feline started acting weird, they started to become concerned.
Their furry companion seemed hesitant to come closer near its playing ground, so when they decided to have a look, they found out why.
Inside the cat tree was an unexpected visitor: a large carpet python!
In an interview with The Dodo, Stuart McKenzie from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 said: “It definitely gave them a surprise.”
The family contacted McKenzie as soon as they found the reptile and he helped remove the python from its hiding place.
“I believe the snake got in the house through an open door or window,” McKenzieadded. “It was during the heavy rain and hail storms so I think he was just seeking shelter.”
Fortunately, the snake and the cat had no interest in meeting each other. The reptile was a very well-behaved guest and kept a distance from the cat. He just wanted to take a rest away from hail storms and heavy rain.
McKenzie managed to take the snake out of the cat tree and it was evident that the reptile was a little bit annoyed.
“It was pretty easy to get the snake out of there,” McKenzie added. “It was a nice, warm, cozy spot for the snake, though.”
One Facebook user commented: “That snake couldve crushed the cat. Thank goodness all it wanted was to rest and take a nap in a warm dark place…”
Another wrote: “Why is this snake looking at the camera when they took the picture???? Like its staring into my soul?!”
A third said: “He would have had the cat for lunch. Very scary, how did that happen?”
