It is the big designers like Prada, Celine, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton which set the trend for the dress of the coming seasons.
The major fashion shows take place a good half-year before the season and if you follow them closely, chances are you won’t be buying anything out of the trend.
However, the fashion code issued by these people is not written in stone and you can set your own trend for yourself.
Here’s some research into the fashion trends set for the spring-summer season of 2020. We’ve brought you a list of the things, originally shared by Bright Side, that are not making it to 2020 fashion update.
1. Hair Pins
Simon Rocha started the trend of shiny, pearl and multi-colored hairpins back in 2018. The trend made its way from fashion shows to social media fashion pages and then to street users.
The trend got out of the spotlight by the end of 2019 and it is a big no for 2020.
You may better be looking for headscarves or ribbons from Erdem, Giambattista Valli, and other popular designers to remain in fashion for 2020.
2. Skinny Jeans
No one is stopping you from wearing the skinny jeans in your wardrobe that you love but buying a new one might not be a good idea.
The trend is shifting to mom jeans, banana-shaped jeans, and other designs of loose jeans. You can check Isabel Marant, Balmain, and Alexander Wang to see the latest jeans trends.
3. Thin Fabric Cardigans
The trend is moving towards bigger cardigans with minimalistic decoration, skipping rhinestones and the likes of it.
Follow Dior, Max Mara, and Stella Jean to get the idea of what a 2020 cardigan is supposed to look like.
4. Peplum Dresses and Skirts
The Duchess of Cambridge has to wear those skirts and Peplum dresses because she is obligated by a set of conservative rules of dressing.
In normal fashion, these things are outdated for quite a time now.
5. Moon Boots
The puffy boots get their name from their resemblance with the boots Neil Armstrong wore to the moon. They are pretty awkward in today’s fashion and it is good not to wear them at all.
6. Coats with Fur Collars
Fur used to decorate clothing is being discouraged to save wildlife and furry lined cloths are now pretty much a story of the past. The new trend is the coats having free silhouettes.
You can have some samples at the collections of Alexander Wang, Chanel, and Max Mara.
7. Short Pants
Short pants might be a good dress for biking and sports but they don’t fit quite well into real life. Stick to wearing them only during sports activities.
For day to day life, replace them with micro-shorts from the collection of Brandon Maxwell, Yves Saint Lauren or Rag and Bone.
8. Net Bags
Net bags came in like a fleeting trend last year. If you didn’t buy one then, now is not the time to go for them either.
Chose micro bags designed by Simon Porte Jacquemus as a part of his 2017 collection as they are still in. Notable fashion houses like Marco de Vincenzo, Borbonese and Chloe have selected them for their 2020 collections.
9. Oval Belt Bags
These bags first became popular back in the 1990s but they quickly lost popularity in 2019 and are now outdated. It is suggested to go for the smaller rectangular ones meant to contain the smartphones or the saddle-shaped ones.
10. Uggs
Uggs got popularity because people found them comfortable but the recent researches show that they are not good for your feet and put a strain on your back due to a very flat sole design.
Go instead for the tough-looking boots that are medically better and are more elegant than uggs. These boots have been introduced by trendsetters like Alexander McQueen, Prada, Dior, and Chanel.
11. Ugly Shoes
Ugly shoes were introduced by Balenciaga and remained in fashion especially to be worn with romantic outfits but now the trend is shifting to the classic sneakers that fit in with almost any dress and give a classy look.
However, if you insist on ugly, the trend is shifting to ugly sandals that you can wear.
