Another town in Italy is selling houses for only $1 each! The only catch is you have to buy it with your family or a group of friends – and also to live in it.
Located in the south of the Campania region, Bisaccia town is finding it difficult to revive their community.
According to CNN Travel, the town has suffered from numerous earthquakes. Many of the buildings are damaged, with plant-life growing throughout.
But the town has placed 90 buildings on the market and hopes that they will be fixed into communal living areas to entice people to visit and stay.
The $1 offer expects the owner to renovate the house. There is no minimum spend or time frame expected.
In an interview with CNN, Deputy mayor Francesco Tartaglia said: “We welcome families, groups of friends, relatives, people who know each other or investors to join forces.
“We encourage them to buy more than just one house to actually have an impact and breathe new life.”
She also said that the local authorities own the buildings so the transactions will be simple.
Many Italian towns have resorted to selling cheap buildings and homes to encourage people to live in the area.
Bivona in Sicily asked buyers to pay around $2,700 bond for a $1 house while Mussomeli in southern Sicily offered homes for only $1 as long as the buyer renovates the house within a year.
Sambuca also offered $1 houses as long as buyers spend $17,000 for renovation.
Some regions were giving away places for free, with towers, monasteries and castles available as long as they were transformed into commercial properties such as hotels or restaurants.
