A four-year-old boy was accidentally shot by his father’s gun as the two were playing on a bed while the firearm was hoisted behind the man’s pants.
The incident occurred in Bloomington, Indiana, where a father was playing with his son while wearing a concealed weapon.
According to the reports, 36-year-old Tyler Shaw was having a friendly wrestling round with his son, Tripp, when his handgun suddenly fell from the back of his pants.
Upon landing, the firearm triggered whereas the bullet fired went straight for the heads of the father and the four-year-old boy.
While the father survived the shot and is in recovery, the boy was pronounced dead four days later by the doctors at Riley Children’s Hospital.
After the incident, a family member has set up a GoFundMe page to help the Shaws raise enough money to cover their medical and funeral expenses.
“It takes a village to help through an accidental tragedy. The Shaw family has been through so much in this situation. This GoFundMe is the least we could do to help with the financial stress. Please continue to pray for our friends & their family during this difficult time,” the page reads.
As of this writing, the family has already raised over $20,000 from more than 200 donors.
As for the father, he might face charges for felony criminal recklessness if it is found that he “recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally performed an act that creates a substantial risk of bodily injury to another person.”
