Being a sex offender is a huge title and no person would want the black spot on their name at all.
While adults are mature enough to understand sex and sexually offending acts, for toddlers and kids, sex is something they have no idea about, thus their actions cannot be sexually offending.
A five years old kid, who is autistic, was branded as a sex offender by his teacher at the East Ridge Elementary in Tennessee as she said he was involved in sexual activities at the school.
Who in their sane mind would say that a child at such a young age would even have any clue about sexual intimacy and sexual acts?
The family of Nathan is left devastated by the accusation put on their child. The family reported that their son has been labeled as a sex predator and he will have that mark on him forever.
Summery Putnam, the guardian of the child said she felt sick to her stomach when she received a call from Nathan’s school stating the same.
Ms Putnam was asked by his teacher to talk to him about his boundaries.
She said that she had a conversation with her son later and asked him not to go and hug kids to which he questions why. Ms Putnam told the boy that he is not allowed to do it but how would a child as young as 5 years of age and with autism will understand what he did wrong to offend the school system.
Ms Putnam says that her teacher and the entire school system have no idea about how autism works.
The grandmother of Nathan came to Facebook to ask for help from people with the question on what should be done when a child of just 5 years of age is labeled as a sexual harasser by his school?
