The growing acceptance of the virtual reality among the people has led to rising concerns by a fraction of people who claim that the use of virtual reality is likely to have adverse effects on the social interactions among people.
The effect of virtual reality on the emotional and mental health and the psychological response of people is a subject of wide study among the researchers.
When we have been worrying about connecting with people we have lost in our lives, it is good to know that technology is helping us heal.
In a recent TV show on a Korean TV, the team spoke about the grief of a family over the loss of their 7-year-old daughter and tried to reunite the mother with a girl in a virtual reality demo.
As good as it sounds, it was heartwarming to watch it happen and seeing the mother go through all kinds of feelings at the moment.
The girl was completely replicated in three-dimensional Arena to make sure she is able to move and interact with the mother. The team also gives the mother touch-sensitive gloves and the headset for the audio.
Though her actions were limited to a green screen set, it was simply fantastic to watch the mum meltdown after being able to watch her daughter walk and talk after so many days of not feeling her presence.
The conversation was also cute enough that we couldn’t stop listening to it over and over again.
The virtual reality opens up a wide range of opportunities for the study of human behavior and the social interaction, the fallibility and the capability of the human mind, and the repercussions of the presence of an alternate reality for the people.
However, at present, virtual reality tools are not developed enough to dissolve the differences between the real and the virtual world.
