A one-year-old dog was rushed to a vet after he accidentally ingested cocaine that had been thrown by the neighbor onto his yard.
Nipsey, a pit bull puppy, was in the backyard when the bag of cocaine was thrown over the fence as the police raided the neighbor’s house.
Officers then heard the dog barking and decided to check what’s going on outside. That’s when they found the chewed-up bag and called the Michigan Humane Society for advice.
The poor pup was also rushed to the vet for treatment.
“When I came outside and saw him eating dope from the house next door it kind of blew my mind,” Clint Majors, Nipsey’s owner, said. “Definitely when you’ve got animals you really care for them.”
The pitbull had to spend the night at the Grosfield Veterinary Center for monitoring and treatment before he was reunited with Majors. It is not clear how much of the drugs he consumed.
Michigan Humane Society paid for Nipsey’s treatment and posted the story on their YouTube channel. They wrote: “The Michigan Humane Society medical team at the Grosfeld Veterinary Center in Detroit rushed to save a dog who accidentally swallowed lethal drugs.”
In an interview with CNN, a spokesperson for MHS said: “We dispatched two of our investigators to the home. We then transported Nipsey to our MHS Grosfeld Veterinary Center.”
The charity also said on the website: “He was held overnight to observe any ill effects, but thankfully recovered and was reunited with Majors.”
Dan Donakowski, a Detroit police spokesperson, also confirmed that police had not identified the neighbor responsible for throwing the bag of cocaine into the yard.
