The Ima Survivor Animal Sanctuary was created after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas.
The 100-acre Rocking M Ranch in Plum Grove, Texas was left damaged and the farm animals had to release to evacuate.
After mourning the loss of animals for three days, a video emerged that showed a donkey named Ima Jean trying to escape from 6-foot flood waters.
Her struggle to live touched everyone’s heart and Jami Walker and other volunteers stepped in to help Lester’s ranch getting on its feet again.
Lester said: “These guys mean the world to me. The miracle of that day was how these animals survived. That was the beginning of what we do now.”
The ranch has now become a sanctuary that provides a safe haven for donkeys and other farm animals.
It was named Ima Survivor Animal Sanctuary after their lone surviving donkey, Ima Jean.
This 100-acre ranch is nestled quietly in the beautiful city of Plum Grove, Texas and has a variety of ponds, creeks and open grasslands.
The sanctuary provides shelter to survivors from all harm whether it is abuse or neglect, abandonment or even the inability for an owner to provide for their pet.
You will find Bucky the Horse, Annie the Alpaca, Petunia Pig, Big Tex the Longhorn bull, and of course, Ima Jean Donkey at the Ima Survivor Animal Sanctuary.
Lester and Jami say: ‘We are so grateful to those who follow us on social media and for the animals we call family, too.
Thank you for reading our story and for loving the animals as we do.
’The Ima Survivor Animal Sanctuary is helping animals and providing them shelter.
