A mother has been applauded for taking extra measures to ensure that her kids are helping around the house and that they get rewarded for good behavior.
Keira Alexander is an Aussie mum-of-two who decided to create a chore chart to fine or award her kids points based on the chores they skipped or completed.
While Keira deducts her kids’ points whenever they misbehave or leave a mess, the mum also awards them points when they finish their chores, allowing them to collect enough to receive rewards such as screen time and money in the long term.
According to the mother’s chore chart, routine activities that she expects her children to do without being told to include dressing up, brushing hair, eating breakfast, brushing teeth, packing school bags, doing homework, unpacking school bags, and practicing piano.
The mum also prepared a list of additional chores that are worth more due to their nature and include stuff like feeding the dog, picking up dog poos, vacuum cleaning, doing the dishes, washing the car, taking out the trash, etc.
In addition to basic and extra chores, the mum also came up with fines for being late to school, lying, fighting, not listening, and similar instances.
After Keira’s children collect enough points, they can cash them in for promising rewards including money, movie watching, sleepovers, rock climbing, screen time, ice cream, and even a day off school.
After sharing the idea online, plenty of parents praised Keira for creating the “life-changing chart.”
“I gave this a go on my own kids and it’s been simply life-changing,” someone wrote.
“I need this in my life – my son will work his a** off for these rewards!” another one suggested.
