Paisley Elizabeth Grace Cogsdill passed away only one minute into a routine surgery to have her tonsils removed, leaving her family devastated.
The 7-year-old girl from South Carolina died when her heart stopped despite doctors’ attempts to revive her.
Her heartbroken parents said their daughter snored but she was completely healthy. If children are prone to snoring, it is common to have their tonsils removed.
They are still waiting for autopsy results to determine how exactly they lost their child.
Paisley, a very cheerful girl, was a straight-A student at Clinton Elementary School.
Her grandmother, Mary Beth Truelock, said to WHNS: “Going into surgery, she had no fear. She was smiling and happy. Nothing was wrong, you know? She had no fear.
“Definitely missing her all the time. You don’t understand why these things happen, but we know it was God’s plan and that’s the only thing that can get us through, because we know it was God.”
The description on a GoFundMe page set up for the young girl’s funeral costs describes her death at as “awful time” for her devastated parents Jasmine Truelock and Austin Cogsdill.
“No one expects to lose a child at anytime. During the wake of this awful time in their lives, I’m humbly asking for help in raising money for Paisley’s funeral expenses,” the description reads.
“This, in addition to prayers would help the family tremendously. Please give if you feel lead to do so. God bless!”
One internet user commented: “I feel so sad when I read these. Please bless this family in someway to reduce the lifetime of pain they will endure.”
Another wrote: “I’m sure no one expected this to happen to this young child. Very sad.”
A third added: “Rest In Peace Paisley. My utmost sympathy to her family and friends. I’m so very sorry for your loss. It’s unfathomable how this happened.”
