Sharia Washington, late Kobe Bryant’s sister, showed the latest tattoo she has got as her own way to pay tribute to the late player and his daughter.
Kobe, 41, and his daughter Gianna, 13, were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26 which claimed 26 other lives as well.
Sharia posted on Instagram last Wednesday night to show the tattoo she’s got to honor her brother and niece.
The tattoo consists of a black mamba snake that’s curled around numbers 2 and 4, in reference to the shirt numbers of Kobe and his daughter.
Captioning the post, she wrote “Thank you @peterbarriostattoo,” adding snake, heart and prayer hand emoji.
Grieving Sharia got the inspiration for the tattoo from one of Kobe’s custom-made T-Shirts. The shirt had a white snake wrapped around 2 and 4 as 24 was his jersey number in the game.
In January, at the time of Kobe’s death, Sharia posted a number of photos of the basketball star on Instagram, captioning them: “On behalf of our family, we join Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka and Capri in grieving the loss of Kobe and Gianna in such a tragic accident.
“We are devastated by the loss of our brother, son, our niece and granddaughter, and our hearts go out to all the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday.
“Our lives are forever changed. Thank you for your prayers, the numerous calls, texts, emails and cards. Please visit MambaOnThree.org to support the families affected by Sunday’s tragedy and to honor Kobe and Gianna’s legacy.”
On February 24, an event was held to commemorate Kobe and Gianna at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, the same venue where the basketball superstar played 17 seasons for his team, Los Angeles Lakers.
The venue was flooded with stars, celebrities, family and personal friends of the Bryant family.
The people were seen really moved over the way Kobe’s wife and Gianna’s mother delivered a speech about her irreversible loss.
Speaking through tears and in a heartbreaking tone, Vanessa said: “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other, he had to bring them home to have them together. Babe, you take care of our Gigi.”
