Social media users were left stunned after Heinz formed a Twitter poll, inquiring whether or not the people wanted to relish ‘Boopz,’ a mix of spaghetti hoops and baked beans.
The food company was pondering upon the idea of putting the two famous foods in a single tin. But before actually implementing it, they decided to ask fans about their views.
Heinz said that the innovative idea was meant to celebrate ‘National Toast Day,’ the day about which you are probably listening for the first time.
The poll racked up more than 15,000 votes, with only 41% of people ready to give the new product a try. The other 59% of the population was really wary and disturbed about the prospect.
A disgusted netizen even called the strange combination a ‘food war crime,’ saying: “This is a food war crime.
“Actually the beans are the crime. Horrible things. Contaminating the hoops is against nature.”
Another frustrated soul commented: “Good God. Brexit and now this. The country has lost the plot.”
You too can express what you think by visiting the poll on Twitter.
For anyone who is feeling caught up in a dilemma, Heinz tried to stress upon the features of Boopz by shedding light on the packaging it will be coming in.
Heinz announced that in order to reduce the usage of eco-unfriendly material, the company will not be using plastic wraps to package its future products.
The food company will be collaborating with Tesco to make the change possible.
Heinz and Tesco together hope to avoid the use of 175 tonnes of plastic by introducing their revolutionary packaging without using plastic.
The president of Kraft Heinz Northern Europe, Georgiana de Noronha, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Tesco on this.
“While we know we have more to do, this initiative is good news for the environment, and for the millions of people who enjoy Heinz varieties every day, as they’ll still be able to benefit from the same great value for money our multi-packs provide.”
