A vegan woman from south London has claimed KFC staff gave her a Chicken Burger after she ordered KFC’s vegan Quorn fillet burger and then laughed at her when she ate it.
Vanessa Franco told KFC staff accidentally gave her a chicken burger at a drive-thru and after taking three bites, she realized it was a Chicken Burger because it “tasted different”.
Vanessa, who recently turned vegan, claimed that the staff at the restaurant in Colliers Wood, south-west London laughed at her when she complained about the Chicken Burger before replacing it with KFC’s vegan Quorn fillet burger.
Vanessa said: “I realised the texture tasted different. I drove back to KFC and asked them to confirm it was a vegan burger. That’s when the girl who served me told me it was a chicken fillet burger.”
“She then called her colleague, who told me to come inside.”
When she went inside, the staff told her ‘you should have known it was chicken’ and laughed at her.
She said she felt humiliated and have been left traumatized after the incident.
Venessa said: “I felt humiliated and have been left traumatized due to not only a lifestyle choice but also religion being broken and made fun of.”
Vanessa slammed KFC’s customer service and called them ‘disgusting’.
Later, KFC apologized for the incident as one spokesman said they use separate coloured tongs and storage units for their vegan and chicken burgers.
The spokesman said they are following up with the team to remind them to get it right.
KFC has also offered the vegan woman a free meal after the incident.
The KFC spokesman said: “We’re following up with the team to remind them of the importance of getting this right and will be offering the guest a free meal on us to put things right.”
