The woman who became a hate figure after attacking a defenseless elderly woman has passed away.
23-year-old Cori Glencross explained that she had an epileptic fit and wasn’t in control of her body when she attacked the elderly woman at a bus stop.
Cori’s mother said she suffered a seizure and passed away last month after trying to ‘right the wrong’ before her demise.
According to her mother, she had been trying to change her life but her debilitating epilepsy caused her to experience up to 15 seizures per day. There was even a time when she fell unconscious in the bathroom.
Cori had been diagnosed with an intellectual disability before she passed away and she hoped she would finally get help.
But the 23-year-old was caught on camera attacking a 75-year-old woman and the clip immediately went viral.
Her mother, Casey Donald, said that she was receiving hate messages even after her death.
Ms. Donald said to the Sunday Herald Sun: “She fully accepted that her behaviour at that time was wrong and she was almost at the point where her court cases were going to be dealt with.
“She put her hand up and said “I screwed up” but she was never going to be left alone.
“Even in death people are saying things like “rot in hell” … I have received some terrible, vile messages.”
Cori, who was on bail when the incident occurred, said in a police interview that she was only acting in self-defense as the elderly woman allegedly threatened her with a needle.
“When I was getting her off me I had a seizure and couldn’t control my body and it looks like it was on purpose but it wasn’t on purpose,” she explained, according to ABC.
Ms. Donald said Cori had battled with epilepsy since she was a child.
Caitlyn Brooks, one of the witnesses, said to Daily Mail Australia that Cori had told the pensioner that it was ‘not nice to smile’ before she attacked the defenseless woman.
The elderly woman was kicked two times as she was lying on the ground before a passerby finally stepped up.
