Judge Judy, which is an American arbitration-based reality court show, will come to an end after it’s 25th season.
The show first aired in 1996 on syndicated TV and has been running since then.
The show is led over by Judy Sheindlin and it centers on small claims on disputes from all over the nation, which are mostly family and interpersonal issues.
Judy told Ellen, on her Monday’s edition, that CBS now has 25 years’ rerun and they want to sell a couple of years worth reruns of the show.
Judy also said that she’s not yet tired and will continue her journey with an upcoming series, Judy Justice, which will come out a year later.
On being asked what network would air the show, Judy said she cannot tell that yet.
Judy Sheindlin, 77, is one of the highest-paid TV celebrities with $47 million of annual salary. Judy has been on air since 1996 with Judge Judy.
Before that, she used to work in Brooklyn as a family court judge. Judy is called a remarkably effective Judge because of her hard-hitting, no-nonsense firm approach towards justice.
The 25th season of Judge Judy will air from fall 2020 till spring 2021 and will be the final season of the show.
For the next couple of years, people will be able to catch the reruns of Judge Judy on the channels that are currently carrying it. And they’ll also be getting Judy Justice somewhere else.
More than 5000 episodes of Judge Judy have been aired till now. Also, in 2019 Daytime Emmys, Judy was awarded the Life Time Achievement Award.
She is described as ‘real, honest and keen to get to the bottom of an emotional case’ in the synopsis of the show.
Also, in a transaction, Judy sold CBS around 5,200 hours of content which was worth $100million.
