If a group of people is supposed to be asked where do they keep their ketchup bottles, most of them will say “in the fridge”.
However, it has turned out that there is no necessity to store ketchups in the cold fridge. Would you believe this?
Consumer Watchdog has also advised for the same, tell us would you follow it? Consumer Watchdog took out a survey where they asked 444 on the members and asked if people really checked how to store the bottles of pickle and ketchup.
The result turned out that 1 out of every 5 people said that they do not bother to do enough and simply place the jar in the fridge.
As per the group, it is completely fine to keep the ketchup in the cupboard because it has vinegar and natural acids in tomatoes that keep it from rotting.
While the group advises people it is fine to keep the ketchup bottles outside the fridge, ketchup manufacturing company says it is best to keep the bottles stored in the refrigerator after the has been opened once to ensure the best taste.
In their official description, Heinz says that their ketchup is naturally acidic and can be preserved on its own before it is opened.
But once it is opened the storage condition is the key that determines how the ketchup is going to survive and thus it is advised to keep it inside a fridge to keep it protected.
So, what does this tell us to do? As a result, we once again realize how important it is to make some room in our refrigerator.
Another factor that would determine the shelf-life of a ketchup is how often and for how long we open the bottle. If you eat ketchup daily, it won’t really need refrigeration because it will be finished up quickly.
