The patient who successfully recovered from coronavirus has shared how it was like to be infected with the SARS-like virus.
23-year-old Huang said he first went to a hospital as he suffered from dizziness, lack of strength, and headache.
During his stay in the hospital, it was discovered that he was infected with coronavirus as his symptoms did not improve even after three days of medication.
Fortunately, he is one of the lucky ones who manage to recover.
In an interview with Pear, Huang said: “I recovered the fastest because I am young. I am only 23.”
Huang lives in Wuhan, China, where coronavirus originated. He also works near the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, the place believed to be the breeding ground of the deadly virus.
The 23-year-old said that it was December 24 when he felt symptoms similar to those of a cold. The next day, his condition got worse.
He thought it was only a common illness so he decided to take sick leave from work and visit a hospital.
When he returned to his job as he was worried he may have taken a lot of time off, he developed a fever.
Huang went back to the local hospital for another checkup but it was discovered that he had abnormal readings in liver function tests.
He then went to Union Hospital where doctors reviewed his reports and decided to transfer him to Jinyintan Hospital after discovering that he worked near the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market.
Huang continued: “I had fevers repeatedly from December 28 and January 2 and was treated in quarantine. The medics did not expose a single inch of skin and were wrapped up firmly.
“I was the first to recover from a critical condition and leave the hospital.”
In a report published by Rappler, the director of the Chinese centre of disease control and prevention, Gao Fu, said: “We already know that the disease originated from a market which conducted illegal transaction of wild animals.
“This might be the cause, so the disease could be on an animal, and then passed on from this animal to a human.”
